
Injury Prevention and Outreach Education Coordinator

Job Summary
Position is responsible for reducing injuries within the community, developing a strategy, organizing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the injury prevention programs. The Coordinator will utilize injury information, studies and reports to identify community needs develop relevant injury prevention strategies and interventions based on data obtained from the local, statewide, and national Trauma Registry.Job Description
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Public Health Administration required; Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing, or equivalent, preferred
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Minimum of five (5) years in related field
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, project and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and with a team is a must
- Grant writing experience preferred
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and epidemiology, injury prevention legislation activities, and procurement of funding sources
- Creativity and the ability to generate innovative ideas
- Computer skills to include programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data management programs
Principal Accountabilities
- Develops and maintain the Adult Trauma Injury Prevention Program: statistical data analysis, program planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Collaborates with local, state, and national injury prevention organizations/coalitions.
- Participates in community events, meetings, and maintain relationships with referring agencies and community members throughout the region.
- Participates in development of trauma care systems at community, state, and regional levels through Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council.
- Serves as a liaison to referring physicians, hospitals, and EMS agencies.
- Monitors and audit risk-factor screening tools for inpatient trauma patients.
- Participates in the ACS/State Trauma survey.
- Adheres to safety and legal requirements established at hospital, state, and national levels.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
