I also really enjoy the challenge of what I do, especially for me on weekends when I have minutes to get set up and ready for a patient coming by Life Flight straight to the OR. I love being the best at my job, it’s challenging to work in CV because you need to know so much beyond what you learn in school. I did a lot of reading when I started learning hearts. It’s such a small chapter in most programs and barely touched upon. Now I know so much that there’s not a need to really have surgeons say anything during cases. It’s a well oiled machine. They just expect you to know and I’ve been scrubbing hearts ten years now so I’ve definitely learned so much from when I started."
